Wacoal Holdings Corporatiom is a joint stock corporation that was incorporated under the Commercial Code of Japan in November 1, 1949 with the name Wako Shoji Kabushiki Kaisha. Its name was changed to Wacoal Kabushiki Kaisha in 1957 and was further changed to Kabushiki Kaisha Wacoal (or Wacoal Corp.) in 1964. In October 2005, the Company transitioned to a holding company structure by spinning off all of its operations into a new wholly owned subsidiary. In connection with this, it changed its name to Wacoal Holdings Corp. The Company is a designer, manufacturer and marketer of women's intimate apparel. It also designs, manufactures and sells nightwear, children's underwear, outerwear, sportswear, hosiery and other apparel and textile products, and engages in restaurant businesses, certain cultural projects and builds interiors for commercial premises, including sales counters operated by its sales promoters in department stores and other retailers carrying Company's apparel. The Company divides its businesses into four segments including: Wacoal Business (Domestic), Wacoal Business (Overseas), Peach John and other. Wacoal Business (Domestic) segment is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of apparel in Japan other than the businesses conducted by Peach John and Lecien. Its products include innerwear, outerwear, sportswear, hosiery, restaurant, culture and services. Wacoal Business (Overseas) segment is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of apparel outside Japan. Peach John segment is engaged in mail-order sales of women's apparel and various other apparel products for the Japanese market. Its products include innerwear, outerwear and other textile-related products. Other segment is engaged in manufacture and sale of women's innerwear and clothing for the Japanese market.
