Wellesley Bancorp Inc was incorporated in September 2011. It is the holding company for Wellesley Bank, Wellesley, Massachusetts (the Bank). It operates as a community-oriented financial institution offering traditional financial services to consumers and businesses in its primary market area. The Bank attracts deposits from the general public and use those funds to originate primarily residential mortgage loans, commercial real estate loans and construction loans, and, to a lesser extent, commercial business loans, home equity lines of credit and other consumer loans. It conducts its lending and deposit activities primarily with individuals and small businesses in its primary market area. It conducts its operations from its executive offices and three full-service branch offices located in Wellesley, Massachusetts, a community within the greater Boston metropolitan area, and one full-service branch office located in Boston. The Bank's lending market includes the communities of Wellesley, Dover and Needham in Norfolk County and the communities of Natick, Newton and Weston in Middlesex County. The Company's market area is located largely in the Boston-Cambridge-Quincy, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Metropolitan Statistical Area. The largest segment of its loan portfolio is mortgage loans to enable borrowers to purchase or refinance existing homes. It also offers fixed- and adjustable-rate mortgage loans secured by commercial real estate, including loans secured by multi-family real estate. It primarily originates construction loans to contractors and builders, and to lesser extent individuals, to finance the construction of residential dwellings. It makes commercial business loans primarily in its market area to a variety of professionals, sole proprietorships and small businesses. It offers home equity lines of credit, which are secured by owner-occupied residences. It occasionally makes fixed-rate second mortgage loans, automobile loans, loans secured by passbook or certificate accounts and overdraft loans.
