1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Wausau Paper Corporation manufactures, converts, and sells paper and paper products in the United States and internationally. The company operates in two segments- Tissue and Paper, with both business segments marketing their products under the Wausau Paper trademark. Tissue segment produces a line of towel, tissue, soap and dispensing systems for the away-from-home market, sold under the Bay West and Wausau Paper brands. Its customers include wholesalers who serve end users in office building management, education and government facilities management, healthcare and healthcare facilities management, plus the lodging, recreation, industrial and commercial and hospitality sectors. This segment competes with major integrated paper companies and smaller converters who primarily service consumer and food service markets as well as the industrial and institutional markets concentrated on by Tissue. Some of these major competitors include Georgia-Pacific LLC, Kimberly Clark Corporation, and SCA Hygiene Products. The Paper segment manufactures premium release liners, highly engineered papers for industrial applications, tape base papers, specialty food packaging and finishing products and high performance coated liner products. This segment offers its products under the EcoSelect, ExperTec, DuraTec, InvenTec, ProGard, ProRedi, ProPly, and ProTec brand names. Competition for the Paper segment comes from a range of paper-producing companies, of which its principal competitors include Ahlstrom Corporation, Packaging Dynamics Corporation, Nordic Paper, Nippon Paper Group, Inc., UPM, and Gascogne Paper.
