Business Description

W&T Offshore Inc is a Texas corporation originally organized as a Nevada corporation in 1988, and successor by merger to W&T Oil Properties, Inc., a Louisiana corporation organized in 1983. The Company is an oil and natural gas producer, active in the acquisition, exploitation, exploration and development of oil and natural gas properties in the Gulf of Mexico, where it has developed technical expertise and high production rates associated with hydrocarbon deposits have historically provided it the best opportunity to achieve a return on its invested capital. W&T Offshore has acquired rights to explore and develop new prospects and acquired existing oil and natural gas properties in both the deepwater and the deep shelf, while at the same time continuing its focus on the conventional shelf. The Company has interests in offshore leases covering approximately 0.8 million gross acres spanning across the outer continental shelf off the coasts of Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Alabama. W&T Offshore seeks to increase its reserves through acquisitions and drilling programs. The Company has focused on acquiring properties where it could develop an inventory of drilling prospects that would enable it to add reserves post-acquisition. W&T Offshore sells its oil, NGLs and natural gas to third-party purchasers. The Company is not dependent upon, or contractually limited to, any one purchaser or small group of purchasers. The oil and natural gas industry is competitive. The Company actively competes with other companies in its industry when acquiring new leases or oil and natural gas properties. Various aspects of its oil and natural gas operations are subject to extensive and continually changing regulation as legislation affecting the oil and natural gas industry is under constant review for amendment or expansion.
