30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Continue to Fall; Current Rate is 3.90%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker
SEATTLE, March 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.90 percent, down nine percentage points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate hovered between 3.90 percent and 3.98 for most of the week before settling at the current rate.
“Mortgage rates were particularly volatile last week driven by political uncertainty in the United States and are now at lowest levels since late February,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “The Republican retreat on changes to the Affordable Care Act has cast doubt on Congress’ ability to enact broader economic legislation – notably tax reform – that could boost growth. This pushed investors toward safer assets in expectation of less economic stimulus in the years ahead. This week, political drama could again drive rates though several Fed speeches and inflation data due Friday could also move markets.”Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey. The rate for a 15-year fixed home loan is currently 3.11 percent, while the rate for a 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) is 2.92 percent.  Below are current rates for 30-year fixed mortgages by state. 30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Fall Below 4 Percent; Current Rate is 3.99%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker

SEATTLE, March 21, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.99 percent, down 11 percentage points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate dropped Wednesday, then slid lower to the current rate over the rest of the week.
“Mortgage rates fell 10 basis points on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve increased short term interest rates, following signals of a slower-than-expected pace of interest rate hikes in the months ahead,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “With one regional Fed president voting against the hike, there is also more uncertainty about how confident the Fed is in the U.S. economy. This week rates are likely to be steady though Thursday when several speeches by FOMC voters should add some clarity to the economic outlook.” Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey. 30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Surge Above 4 Percent; Current Rate is 4.10%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker

SEATTLE, March 14, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 4.10 percent, up 13 percentage points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate rose steadily to the current rate on Friday, then hovered there for the rest of the week.
“Mortgage rates rose by about 10 basis points last week after strong labor market data solidified expectations for the FOMC to lift interest rates this week,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “Though a move by the FOMC on Wednesday is largely already priced into markets, rates should move somewhat higher after the announcement, particularly if forward looking statements are hawkish. While the Fed is likely to dominate markets’ attention this week, smaller potential risk events include U.S. inflation and retail sales data on Wednesday morning and Dutch elections mid-week.” Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. 30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Climb Toward 4 Percent; Current Rate is 3.97%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker

SEATTLE, March 07, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.97 percent, up 12 percentage points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate rose early last week, then hovered around the current rate for the rest of the week.
“Mortgage rates surged last week to their highest levels in almost a month on the heels of a series of speeches by Federal Reserve officials suggesting that a rate hike is likely in mid-March,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “Friday’s jobs report is the headline event this week: a strong report would likely lock-in a March Fed hike and hold mortgage rates steady, while an exceptionally weak jobs report could push rates lower.” Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market.
