AmerisourceBergen Corp is a pharmaceutical services company. It provides drug distribution and related healthcare services and solutions to pharmacy, physician, and manufacturer customers based in the United States and Canada.

AmerisourceBergen Corp was incorporated in Delaware in 2001. It is a pharmaceutical sourcing and distribution services company. It serves healthcare providers and pharmaceutical manufacturers in the pharmaceutical supply channel and provides drug distribution and related services designed to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes. It operates in two segments including Pharmaceutical Distribution Segment and Other. Pharmaceutical Distribution segment includes two operating segments such as operations of ABDC and AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group ("ABSG"). ABDC distributes offering of brand-name and generic pharmaceuticals (including specialty pharmaceutical products), over-the-counter healthcare products, home healthcare supplies and equipment, outsourced CSPs, and related services to variety of healthcare providers, including acute care hospitals and health systems, independent and chain retail pharmacies, mail order pharmacies, medical clinics, long-term care and alternate site pharmacies, and other customers. BSG, through a number of operating businesses, provides pharmaceutical distribution and additional services to physicians specializing in a variety of disease states, especially oncology, and to other healthcare providers, including hospitals and dialysis clinics. The other segment consists the AmerisourceBergen Consulting Services ("ABCS") operating segment, the World Courier operating segment, and the MWI operating segment. ABCS, through a number of operating businesses, provides commercialization support services, including reimbursement support programs, outcomes research, contract field staffing, patient assistance and co-pay assistance programs, adherence programs, risk mitigation services, and other market access programs to pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturers. MWI is an animal health distribution company in the United States and in the United Kingdom. MWI sells pharmaceuticals, vaccines, parasiticides, diagnostics, micro feed ingredients and other products to customers in both the companion animal and production animal markets. The Company's national competitors are Cardinal Health, Inc. and McKesson Corporation. It is subject to oversight by various federal and state governmental entities and it is subject to and affected by a variety of federal and state laws, regulations and policies. The Company is subject to governmental laws and regulations.
