Amtech Systems, Inc. was incorporated in Arizona in October 1981, under the name Quartz Engineering & Materials, Inc. It changed to its present name in 1987. It is a provider of thermal processing systems, including related automation, parts and services for the solar / photovoltaic, semiconductor, silicon wafer and microelectro mechanical systems (MEMS) industries and also offer PECVD (plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition) equipment to the solar industry. The Company operates in two segments: the solar and semiconductor equipment segment and the polishing supplies segment. In the solar and semiconductor equipment segment, th Company supply thermal processing systems, including related automation, parts and services, to the solar/photovoltaic, semiconductor, silicon wafer and MEMS industries and also offer PECVD (plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition) equipment. In the polishing supplies segment, the Company produces consumables and machinery for lapping (fine abrading) and polishing of materials, such as sapphire substrates, optical components, silicon wafers, numerous types of crystal materials, ceramics and metal components.
