Avnet Inc together with its subsidiaries is a value-added distributor of electronic components, enterprise computer & storage products, IT solutions & services and embedded systems.

Avnet Inc was incorporated in New York on July 22, 1955. The Company together with its subsidiaries is engaged in the distribution of electronic components, enterprise computer and storage products, IT solutions and services and embedded subsystems. The Company distributes electronic components, computer products and software, as received from its suppliers or through a customized solution, and offers assembly and other value-added services. In addition, it provides engineering design, materials management and logistics services, system integration and configuration and supply chain services customized to meet requirements of customers and suppliers. The Company has two operating groups; Electronics Marketing and Technology Solutions; has operations in the Americas; Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Asia/Pacific, consisting of Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The Company's Electronics Marketing markets and sells semiconductors and interconnect, passive and electromechanical devices and embedded products for the electronic component manufacturers. Its products and services are used by end-markets including automotive, communications, computer hardware and peripherals, industrial and manufacturing, medical equipment, and defense and aerospace. It also offers value-added services that help customers evaluate, design-in and procure electronic components throughout the life-cycle of their technology products and systems. Its Technology Solutions distributes enterprise computing servers and systems, software, storage, services and complex solutions from technology manufacturers. It creates link in the technology supply chain that connects the electronic component and computer product manufacturers and software developers with customer base of original equipment manufacturers, electronic manufacturing services providers, original design manufacturers, systems integrators, independent software vendors and value-added resellers. The Company faces competition from Arrow Electronics, Inc., Future Electronics and World Peace Group. It is subject to various federal, state, local and foreign laws and regulations addressing environmental and other impacts from product disposal, use of hazardous materials in products, recycling of products at the end of their useful life and other related matters.
