Business Description

ITT Educational Services, Inc. is a Delaware corporation and was incorporated in 1946. The Company is a provider of postsecondary degree programs in the United States. It offers diploma, associate, bachelor and master degree programs. As of December 31, 2011, the Company had offered master, bachelor and associate degree programs to approximately 73,000 students and had 144 locations (including 141 campuses and three learning sites) in 39 states. As of December 31, 2011, the Company had 144 locations (including 141 campuses and three learning sites) in 39 states. In addition, it offered one or more of its online programs to students who are located in 48 states. The Company designs its education programs, after consultation with employers and other constituents, to help graduates prepare for careers in various fields involving their areas of study. It has provided career-oriented education programs since 1969 under the 'ITT Technical Institute' name and since June 2009 under the 'Daniel Webster College' name. In 2009, the Company began operations at ten new ITT Technical Institute campuses and converted five learning sites into five ITT Technical Institute campuses. In 2010, it plans to begin operations at eight to ten new ITT Technical Institute and/or Daniel Webster College locations. As of December 31, 2011, the ITT Technical Institutes were offering 55 degree programs in various fields of study across the following schools of study: Information Technology; Electronics Technology; Drafting and Design; Business; Criminal Justice; and Breckinridge School of Nursing and Health Sciences. In 2011, the Company added a total of 1,343 programs among 132 campuses. The Company hires faculty members in accordance with criteria established by it, the accrediting commissions that accredit the campuses and the state education authorities that regulate its campuses. The Company hire faculty with related work experience and/or academic credentials to teach most technical subjects. Faculty members at each campus typically include the chairperson for each school or program of study and various categories of instructors, including full-time and adjunct. The postsecondary education market in the United States is fragmented and competitive, with no single private or public institution enjoying a significant market share. The Company is subject to regulation by the ED, the state education and professional licensing authorities and the accrediting commissions that accredit its campuses.
