Walker & Dunlop Inc was founded in 1937. The Company completed its initial public offering in December 2010. It is a provider of commercial real estate finance companies in the United States, with a primary focus on multifamily lending. Its clients are owners and developers of commercial real estate across the country. The Company originates, sells, and services a range of multifamily and other commercial real estate finance products through the programs of the Federal National Mortgage Association, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, including Multifamily Finance, FHA Finance, Capital Markets, and Proprietary Capital. It originates and sells loans under the programs of the GSEs and HUD. It provides brokers and services loans for a number of life insurance companies, commercial banks, commercial mortgage backed securities, and other institutional investors. The Company, through its subsidiary entities, also provides institutional advisory, asset management, and investment management services specializing in debt, structured debt and equity. It focuses on multifamily properties and offers a range of commercial real estate finance products to its customers, including first mortgage loans, second trust loans, supplemental financings, construction loans, mezzanine loans, bridge/interim loans, and equity investments. Each of its product offerings is designed to maximize its ability to meet client needs, source capital, and grow its commercial real estate finance business. As an approved HUD MAP and HUD LEAN lender and Ginnie Mae issuer, the Company provides construction and permanent loans to developers and owners of multifamily housing, senior housing and healthcare facilities. The Company serves as an intermediary in the placement of commercial real estate debt between institutional sources of capital, such as life insurance companies, investment banks, commercial banks, pension funds, CMBS, and other institutional investors, and owners of all types of commercial real estate. It's currently offered products are Interim Loan, Bridge Program, and CMBS. Its interim loan program offers floating-rate debt for terms of up to two years. Its Bridge Program product offers floating-rate loans to experienced borrowers seeking to acquire or reposition multifamily properties that do not currently qualify for permanent financing. In addition to its CMBS product offering through its Capital Markets platform, it offers CMBS executions through its CMBS Program. The Company competes on the basis of quality of service, relationships, loan structure, terms, pricing, and industry depth. Its business is subject to laws and regulations in a number of jurisdictions.
