I must admit that this is indeed the best book that I have ever read on how to buy exceptional stocks in the stock market. Before I purchased ‘Invest Like a Guru’, the best book that I ever read was ‘The Intelligent Investor’.
Charlie Tian has done an exceptional job by writing the book in a simple language that even my wife could understand, LOL! So well done!
The book starts and finishes with the whole concept of “buying a good company”. This was the same belief that I had before even I read the book. Charlie also uses good humour in the book based on his personal mistakes in the stock market, for example, “The mistake that scared me the most was when I bought into Sears at $170 in 2007, thinking it was extremely undervalued”. As I write the review the stock price is $2.54 in January 2018.
The book talks about the inherent dangers of value investing, which was an exceptional read! So well done! Charlie has also done a good job brining the core concepts of Warren Buffet, and Peter Lynch in an exceptional manner on how to identify and buy exceptional companies!
In the future edition, I would like Charlie to write more about the concept of economic moat (wide, narrow and none). Keep in mind that the book does cover about this critical topic.
Overall the book is a must read for those who enjoy learning!
