Choice Hotels International, which franchises more than 4,500 hotels under several moderately-priced brands, posted good first quarter results driven by strong growth in both revenue per available room (RevPAR) and the number of units managed. The

company’s announced pipeline of new hotels to be opened in the future was also firm. Given its franchise-driven business model, Choice Hotels has generated substantial free cash flow, which management has used to shareholders’ benefit by reducing longterm debt and repurchasing stock.
