Apple (AAPL, Financial) has announced the launch of its new artificial intelligence service, "Apple Intelligence," which will be available on supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac models. Initially, the service is limited to American English users. Alongside this, Apple has unveiled the new iMac featuring the M4 chip, compatible with Apple Intelligence. The release date in Taiwan is yet to be determined, with prices starting at TWD 44,900. As a result, Apple's stock price (AAPL) rose by 1.39%, reaching $234.63 per share.
Apple Intelligence will be available on devices meeting specific hardware requirements. It includes the integration of ChatGPT into Siri, with additional features set for release in December. More languages will be gradually supported, including variations of English and other major languages like Chinese, French, and Spanish by April 2025.
The initial AI features include basic functionalities such as a Writing Tool for summarizing and rewriting text, AI-powered photo clean-up, and redesigned Siri text input. December promises more advanced features, including the integration of ChatGPT with Siri.
The new iMac, coming just a year after the M3 chip model, offers upgraded specifications. It features the M4 chip, with options ranging from an 8-core CPU and GPU to a 10-core configuration. RAM starts at 16GB, double the previous generation, with upgrades available up to 32GB to enhance AI capabilities. Storage options range from an initial 256GB to an upgradeable 2TB. Additionally, this iMac marks the first Mac product line to include the M4 chip since it debuted in the iPad Pro.
This week is significant for Apple, not only due to the software and hardware launches but also as it plans to release its fourth-quarter financial report for the 2024 fiscal year. Indications suggest more Mac models featuring the M4 chip may be announced soon.
