Google CEO Sundar Pichai has projected that quantum computing could become practical within the next 5 to 10 years. He compared this breakthrough technology to the early days of artificial intelligence around a decade ago. Pichai, who also serves as the CEO of Google's parent company, Alphabet, shared these insights during the World Government Summit in Dubai.

Governments and corporations worldwide are investing billions into quantum computing research to harness this future technology. Quantum computers promise to significantly enhance data processing speeds and capacities, enabling complex system modeling, more accurate scenario predictions, and potentially breaking current encryption systems. However, the technology remains primarily in the research phase, and there is ongoing debate about when it will become truly practical.

In January, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang expressed skepticism, suggesting that "very useful" quantum computers might still be decades away, which led to a decline in related stocks. Pichai also highlighted Google's recent breakthroughs in quantum chip technology, noting that problems unsolvable by current supercomputers within the universe's lifetime could be addressed in just five minutes with quantum advancements.
