Bill Gates (Trades, Portfolio), co-founder of Microsoft, has predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) will replace human roles in most fields within the next decade. In a recent interview, Gates mentioned that while skilled professionals are currently scarce, the evolution of AI will make high-quality medical advice and educational tutoring free and widespread by the 2030s.
Gates previously discussed this concept with Harvard professor Arthur Brooks, highlighting a 2023 study in The Lancet that found AI diagnostic accuracy reaching 96%, comparable to top doctors. This suggests a future where AI could significantly enhance healthcare delivery and education.
Mustafa Suleyman, CEO of Microsoft's AI division, has also warned in his book, "The Coming Wave," that while these AI tools initially augment human intelligence, they will eventually lead to a fundamental shift in the workforce, potentially replacing many jobs currently performed by humans.
