AMD (SMCI) Faces $800 Million Cost Due to New Export Restrictions

Advanced Micro Devices (SMCI, Financial) anticipates incurring up to $800 million in expenses following new semiconductor export restrictions imposed by the Trump administration. The company revealed this estimate in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), based on an initial assessment of the new licensing requirements for exporting its MI308 products.

Similarly, Nvidia has disclosed that it will record a $5.5 billion impairment charge if its H20 chips are banned from sale due to the inability to secure export licenses.
