Amazon (AMZN, Financial) has announced the formation of a new team within its Lab126 consumer product development division, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) agents. The company is set to test humanoid robots for package delivery. In San Francisco, a facility is being transformed into an indoor obstacle course for these tests. Rivian electric delivery vans will be used, with robots riding in the back and delivering packages upon arrival.

Various humanoid robots, including those developed by China's Unitree Technology, are part of the testing phase. Amazon is also developing simulation software based on DeepSeek-VL2 from China's DeepSeek and Alibaba's Qwen model.

Amazon has unveiled warehouse robots to enhance package delivery speed to customers, especially during peak demand periods like holidays. These robots, developed by Lab126, will perform multiple tasks and improve delivery efficiency in confined spaces. However, the details regarding the robots' appearance, deployment numbers, and timeline remain undecided.

Additionally, Amazon plans to use generative AI to create advanced maps for delivery drivers, improving navigation and efficiency. This technology will complement specially developed glasses, providing drivers with detailed navigation information during deliveries.
