Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla (TSLA, Financial), announced plans to introduce a public robotaxi service. The service is expected to commence in Austin, Texas, with an initial rollout of 10 to 20 Model Y SUVs. These vehicles will operate within specific areas under remote human supervision. Musk emphasized that the company prioritizes safety, which may affect the launch timeline.

From June 28, Tesla cars will be capable of automatically driving to customers' residences post-production. The company aims to expand its operations to other U.S. states, including California, despite stringent autonomous driving regulations there. These vehicles will feature Tesla's new Full Self-Driving (FSD) system, which represents an advancement in driver assistance technology.
