- Microchip Technology (MCHP, Financial) enhances TrustMANAGER platform to comply with European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
- New features include secure code signing, Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) updates, and remote management capabilities.
- WINCS02PC Wi-Fi module now certified under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED), mandatory by August 1, 2025, in the EU.
Microchip Technology (MCHP) has announced significant enhancements to its TrustMANAGER platform, introducing new security features aimed at supporting compliance with the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The latest updates include secure code signing, Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) update delivery, and remote management of firmware images, cryptographic keys, and digital certificates, which collectively aim to bolster cybersecurity measures as mandated by the CRA.
The ECC608 TrustMANAGER, bolstered by Kudelski IoT's keySTREAM Software as a Service (SaaS), provides secure authentication, ensuring that manufacturers can comply with evolving cybersecurity regulations. The platform's enhancements are strategically aligned with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) EN 303 645 and International Society of Automation (ISA)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62443 standards for cybersecurity in consumer IoT and industrial automation systems.
Additionally, the WINCS02PC Wi-Fi network controller module, part of the TrustMANAGER development kit, has achieved certification under the Radio Equipment Directive (RED). This directive, becoming mandatory on August 1, 2025, sets stringent requirements for network security, data protection, and fraud prevention in the EU, ensuring that all wireless devices adhere to these cybersecurity provisions.
The platform not only reduces the operational challenges and costs associated with manual security updates but also positions Microchip as a key enabler for manufacturers in the European market. By leveraging secure FOTA updates, manufacturers can remotely patch vulnerabilities, thus maintaining continuous compliance and safeguarding against emerging threats.
Microchip Technology's dedication to enhancing IoT device security and regulatory compliance underscores its commitment to serving the needs of IoT device manufacturers and industrial automation providers, especially in regions with stringent security regulations.
