- Sitka Gold Corp. (OTCQB: SITKF) begins first-ever drilling at Coppermine River Project, Nunavut.
- Focus is on two high-priority copper targets, Copper Leaf and WIN showings.
- Drilling program aims to complete up to 1,000 metres.
Sitka Gold Corp. (OTCQB: SITKF) has initiated its first diamond drilling program at the 100% owned Coppermine River Project located near Kugluktuk, Nunavut. The project, managed by Azrock Drilling Corp., will cover up to 1,000 meters, focusing on two high-priority copper areas: the Copper Leaf and WIN showings.
The Copper Leaf showing, where surface samples have indicated up to 13.45% copper and 65.0 g/t silver, identified a 90-meter wide gravity anomaly with over 400 meters of strike potential. Situated approximately 60 kilometers southwest of Kugluktuk, this area promises significant prospects for sediment-hosted copper deposits.
Additionally, the WIN showing, located 55 kilometers northeast of Copper Leaf, displayed surface samples with copper grades up to 41.54% and 36.0 g/t silver in volcanic-hosted targets. The project's strategic location near commercial airstrips and the recently viable Northwest Passage provides logistical advantages for future development.
The Coppermine River Project marks a pivotal step in exploring mineral-rich Nunavut, as it could potentially reveal significant high-grade copper deposits. This inaugural drilling campaign is particularly noteworthy, given the absence of previous drilling activities at the site.
