Trimble (Nasdaq: TRMB) and KT Corporation have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at providing precise positioning services across South Korea. This initiative will use Trimble's RTX Fast network to deliver telecom, correction, and positioning services with centimeter-level accuracy, which is crucial for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and IoT companies.
The partnership exploits KT’s comprehensive network infrastructure in South Korea alongside Trimble's global RTX Fast network, which spans over seven million square miles. Such integration ensures seamless connectivity and high-precision location services, supporting advanced applications including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), vehicle-to-everything (V2X) capabilities, smart city infrastructure, and advanced field robotics.
According to Olivier Casabianca, Vice President of Advanced Positioning at Trimble, the collaboration aligns with Trimble's strategy to expand its technology coverage beyond North America and Europe into other regions. The service offering will enable automotive manufacturers to develop and test applications from prototype to production stages, leveraging ASIL-certified positioning solutions.
Wontae Kim, head of the strategic customer business division at KT Corporation, emphasized the advantage of KT's broad network coverage across diverse Korean landscapes, ensuring reliability and accuracy in positioning data. The unified service offering facilitates a streamlined purchasing process for correction services and connectivity, bolstered by local expertise and support.
