Planet Labs PBC (PL), a prominent provider of geospatial data and insights, has announced an expansion of its multi-year contract with the Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (IGAC) in Colombia. The contract aims to bolster national land management efforts by incorporating the Planet Insights Platform, alongside AI-powered change detection services for roads and buildings. This strategic expansion is set to aid IGAC in urban planning, infrastructure management, and environmental oversight across the country.
IGAC, which serves as Colombia's governmental body for geographic and cartographic data management, initially partnered with Planet in 2023. The collaboration provided advanced access to SkySat tasking and PlanetScope monitoring, strengthening land-use planning and risk management nationwide. With the latest contract extension, IGAC gains access to a comprehensive suite of Planet solutions, including SkySat Flexible Tasking, PlanetScope Monitoring, and a specialized Education & Research package aimed at supporting government-led research initiatives.
Through this expanded partnership, IGAC will enhance its capabilities in enforcing regulations, identifying and monitoring risks such as floods and landslides, and executing comprehensive land management strategies. The integration of Planet's geospatial data into the Observatorio de la Tierra y el Territorio (OTT) allows IGAC to efficiently support organizations in conducting AI-enabled change analysis, infrastructure monitoring, urban planning, and evaluating land-use changes over time.

Procalculo, a longstanding partner in the region with extensive experience in geographic information services, continues to play a crucial role as the official distributor of Planet solutions in Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama. The collaboration ensures end-to-end support for the implementation and technical assistance of Planet's geospatial solutions.
