The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 142 points or 0.3% to 44,342 points after fluctuating throughout the session. The S&P 500 closed nearly flat at 6,296 points, while the Nasdaq rose slightly by 10 points to 20,895 points.
Major tech stocks generally performed well. Tesla (TSLA) saw a 3.2% increase, while Apple (AAPL, Financial) and Amazon (AMZN) rose by 0.6% and 1%, respectively. However, Nvidia (NVDA), which has been on a record-breaking streak, finally dipped by 0.3%.
On the earnings front, Netflix (NFLX) exceeded profit expectations for the second quarter but saw its stock drop by 5.1%. 3M (MMM) surpassed revenue expectations and raised its earnings forecast, yet its stock fell by 3.7%. American Express (AXP) also beat earnings expectations and maintained its full-year guidance, but its stock declined by 2.4%.
For the week, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq gained 0.6% and 1.5%, respectively, while the Dow experienced a slight decline.
