Company earned 10 cents per share in second quarter

James Bernau (Insider Trades), CEO and 10% owner of Willamette Valley Vineyards (WVVI), bought 2,410 shares of the company on Oct. 1. The average price per share was $4.15 for a total transaction cost of $10,002. Willamette Valley Vineyards creates classic Oregon wines from the Willamette Valley Appellation and use sustainable practices in growing and vinifying winegrapes. WVVI has a market cap of $33.53 million and a P/S ratio of 1.96.

The number and volume of insider buys and sales of the company increased from 2013 to 2015. There were five insider buys totaling 6,325 shares in 2015, and 10 insider sales totaling 16,275 shares from January to September 2015. In comparison, there was only one insider buy and sale amounting to 1,000 and 76 shares in 2013. Bernau bought 9,352 shares of the company in two transactions and sold 441,576 shares in 28 transactions since November 2004. Bernau’s first transaction nearly doubled in price since the purchase. Net sales and gross profit both increased from $3.69 million to $4.72 million, and $2.24 million to $2.76 million.
