IBM (IBM, Financial) reported its third quarter earnings results on Monday, Oct. 19. The technology stalwart reported total third quarter revenue of $19.28 billion, resulting in EPS of $3.34. The third quarter earnings report was slightly disappointing as revenue missed analysts’ estimate of $19.62 billion, and management guided EPS lower for the year.

In an interview with CNBC following IBM’s earnings release, Martin Schroeter, IBM’s CFO, discussed the quarter’s results, citing currency headwinds and evolving business transformations as the main factors for the revenue miss. Schroeter said IBM continues to place its key strategic focus on cloud, analytics, mobile and security. Within these market segments, IBM continues to capture significant market share with substantial opportunity for value growth in the near term.
