Brian Rogers Makes Three Final Purchases for T. Rowe Price Equity Income Fund

Guru steps down after 30 years of managing the fund but not before acquiring nearly 14 million shares

November 19, 2015 | About:

Brian Rogers (Trades, Portfolio) recently stepped down from his position of managing the T. Rowe Price Equity Income Fund but not before purchasing three new holdings at the end of the third quarter. A total of 13,998,100 shares were purchased between these three companies: State Street Corp. (NYSE:STT), Columbia Pipeline Group Inc. (NYSE:CPGX) and PG&E Corp. (NYSE:PCG).

Rogers stepped down as the portfolio manager of the T. Rowe Price Equity Income Fund at the end of October. He managed the fund from 1985 until the end of the third quarter of September, gaining a respectable 10.69% return over that time.

Starting in November John Linehan took over as the portfolio manager of the T. Rowe Price Equity Income Fund. Here below is the list of the new purchases ending in the third quarter for 2015.

State Street is also traded in Mexico and Germany.

PG&E is also traded in Switzerland.

Rogers purchased 2,780,100 shares in PG&E, a new holding for the T. Rowe Price Equity Income Fund. PG&E was incorporated in California in 1995. It is a holding company that conducts its business through Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a public utility operating in Northern and Central California. PG&E provides electricity and natural gas to its customers.

It has a market cap of $25.57 billion, a P/E ratio of 29.02, a P/S ratio of 1.48 and a dividend yield of 3.51.

In this YouTube video Rogers talks about what being risk aware really means. “Be sensitive to risk after prices have appreciated. Be aware of the risk you’re taking when you make a new investment because valuations are higher. The global backdrop is much higher. As we’ve briefly mentioned, with higher prices come higher risk.”

“You always make more money when you’re terrified.” - Brian Rogers (Trades, Portfolio)

Cheers to your investment success.
