Mariko Gordon (Trades, Portfolio), CFA, founder, CEO and CIO of Daruma Capital Management, has bought 2,824,648 shares of Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises Inc. (BW, Financial) and 531,690 shares of Analogic Corp. (ALOG, Financial) .

Gordon has been in the investing industry since 1986 where she broke in as an apprentice to a portfolio manager at Manning & Napier Advisors Inc. in New York. “I spent months calculating free cash flow, tracking working capital changes and taking every night course offered in finance,” Gordon said.

Gordon learned how to assess a company's management through the teachings of guru Chuck Royce (Trades, Portfolio). In 1995 Gordon started Daruma Capital Management with zero assets under management but with a clear goal in mind: to build an investment firm where the business of money management would never interfere with her calling as a portfolio manager. Gordon boils all of her success down to these principles: thrift, resilience, hard work, intellectual curiosity and an ability to take and avoid risk.

Babcock & Wilcox is also traded in Germany.
