Two Appointments Made to Berkshire Hathaway's Board of Directors

Speculation is that one of the two men will succeed Berkshire Hathaway's Chairman and CEO Warren Buffet.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRK.A, Financial)(BRK.B, Financial) has named two new members to its board of directors.

The 14-member board will now include Gregory E. Abel and Ajit Jain, according to a Berkshire press release.

Abel becomes Berkshire Hathway's vice chairman of non-insurance business operations. Jain will be its vice-chairman of insurance of operations.

Abel joined Berkshire Hathaway Energy Company in 1992 and currently serves as chairman and CEO.

Jain joined the Berkshire Hathaway Insurance Group in 1986 and serves as executive vice president of National Indemnity Company with overall responsibilty for leading Berkshire's reinsurance operations.

Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway's chairman and CEO, announced the new appointments today. He and Charlie Munger, vice chairman of the organization, will contine in their current roles.

Speculation is that one of the two new members of the board of directors will succeed Buffett when he is no longer with Berkshire Hathaway.
