U.S. market indexes were lower on Monday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 24,610.91 for a loss of -335.60 points or -1.35%. The S&P 500 closed at 2,712.92 for a loss of -39.09 points or -1.42%. The Nasdaq Composite closed at 7,344.24 for a loss of -137.75 points or -1.84%. The VIX Volatility Index was higher for the day at 19.02 for a gain of 3.22 points or 20.38%.

Monday’s market movers

Technology stocks were lower Monday, leading to broad market declines. Facebook (FB, Financial) led the tech sector selloff, with losses also reported from Oracle (ORCL, Financial) on Monday after reporting earnings.
