Becoming the latest company to fall victim to cybersecurity attacks, Best Buy Co. Inc. (BBY, Financial) announced on Friday that some of its customers may have had their payment information compromised.

The Richfield, Minnesota-based electronics retailer said customer services provider [24]7.ai, which supplies the technology supporting its chat services, reported earlier this week it was hacked last fall, putting the personal payment information of “a number of Best Buy customers” at risk.

In a statement, Best Buy said that upon further investigation, it found “only a small fraction of [its] overall online customer population” was impacted by the incident.

USA Today reported Sears (SHLD, Financial) and Delta Air Lines (DAL, Financial), who also utilize the third-party company’s services, disclosed yesterday their customers may have been impacted by the hack as well.

Best Buy said it will reach out to customers who were affected, promising they will not be held responsible for any fraudulent charges.

On Friday afternoon, Best Buy shares were down 2.38% at $70.40. GuruFocus estimates the stock has gained 3% year to date.
