Williams-Sonoma, Synopsys and Lantronix gain on quarterly results

Shares of Williams-Sonoma Inc. (WSM, Financial) jumped more than 10% after reporting second-quarter earnings per share of 77 cents on $1.28 billion in revenue, reflecting a 6.7% year-over-year increase. The company beat earnings estimates by 9 cents and revenue expectations by $20 million.

“Today, we are announcing another quarter of strong results with topline growth at the high-end of guidance, gross margin significantly above last year and a substantial EPS outperformance,” President and CEO Laura Alber said.

The operating margin for the quarter was 5.8%, compared to 6.8% in prior-year period. Excluding certain items, the non-GAAP operating margin was 6.8%.

During the quarter, the company repurchased 2,409,000 shares of common stock at an average price of $56.90 per share for a total cost of approximately $137 million.

Looking ahead to full-year 2018, the company now expects non-GAAP net revenue between $5.5 billion and $5.6 billion. Comparable brand revenue growth is projected to grow between 3% and 5%. The company also guided for diluted earnings per share in the range of $4.26 to $4.36.

Shares of Synopsys Inc. (SNPS, Financial) rose more than 7% after reporting third-quarter earnings per share of 95 cents on $779.7 million in revenue. The company beat earnings estimates by 3 cents and revenue expectations by $6.09 million.

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the company guides for revenue between $774 million and $804 million, GAAP earnings per share between 39 cents and 47 cents and non-GAAP earnings per share between 76 cents and 80 cents per share.

Shares of Lantronix Inc. (LTRX, Financial) advanced more than 12% on third-quarter earnings per share of 2 cents. Revenue was $11.6 million, growing 2.3% year over year. The company beat earnings estimates by 3 cents and revenue expectations by $0.3 million.

The gross profit margin was 56.8%, up from 55.5% in the prior-year quarter.Â
