Sectors leading losses Tuesday included utilities, consumer staples, materials and financial. Technology stocks were mostly uncorrelated with the day’s trend. The Nasdaq gained 0.18% on Tuesday. Square (SQ, Financial) reported a gain of 10.82% while biotech company Cellular Biomedicine Group (CBMG, Financial) reported a gain of 7.74%.
Economic reports affecting market trading included the following:
- The S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index increased 0.3%.
- The Conference Board’s Consumer Confidence Index increased to 138.4.
- The Treasury held auctions for four-week bills and five-year notes at the following rates: four-week, 2.080%; five-year, 2.997%.
