CalBar Connect, a subsidiary of California ChangeLawyers (formerly California Bar Foundation), serving over 250,000 lawyers continues to fight cyber-crime and is making Delivery Trust® available to all California lawyers.

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Identillect Technologies Corp. (the "Company" or "Identillect") (TSX-V: ID, IDTLF, Frankfurt: 8ID), announces today CalBar Connect has selected Delivery Trust® as the preferred solution for California lawyers to meet and exceed the regulatory requirements in securing communications. Identillect remains committed to the legal community providing cyber-security education and the simplest way to communicate securely and keeping client information private.

CalBar Connect is managed by Cal Bar Affinity, a subsidiary of California Change Lawyers (formerly California Bar Foundation). They offer high quality products and services to licensed California lawyers. Change Lawyers is committed to empowering the next generation of lawyers, judges, and activists to create a more diverse legal profession, a fair justice system, and a better California. Cyber-Security is also something CalBar Connect takes seriously and it continues to educate and create awareness around the security and integrity of information.

Bianca Wolff CEO at Cal Bar Affinity commented, “We place significant efforts in providing the most advantageous services to California Lawyers, partnering with Identillect will assist in the education of cyber-security and provide secure email solutions which help maintain regulatory compliance.”

In a recent American Bar Association article David Ries, a well-known lawyer and author on cyber- security stated, “Confidential data in computers and information systems, including those used by attorneys and law firms, faces greater security threats today than ever before—and they continue to grow! Security breaches are becoming so prevalent that there is a new mantra in cybersecurity today: 'It’s when not if,' a law firm or other entity will suffer a breach.” In an ABA Tech Report 2017 article they highlighted why lawyers are targeted.

“Law firms are targets for two general reasons: (1) they obtain, store and use highly sensitive information about their clients while at times utilizing safeguards to shield that information that may be inferior to those deployed by the client, and (2) the information in their possession is more likely to be of interest to a hacker and likely less voluminous than that held by the client.” This quote as well as the graph shown below were shown in a 2016 security tech report distributed by the ABA.

California has become the first state to approve the Consumer Privacy Act which will go into effect on January 1, 2020. This new regulation has GDPR (General Data Protection Act) like definitions around the protection of personal information. This makes securing client personal information mandatory for all businesses who operate in California with stiff penalties for those who do not comply.

Identillect CEO Todd Sexton states, “Ensuring the cyber-security of the legal community across the United States is our priority. Partnering with CalBar Connect will go a long way toward assisting in the protection of lawyers across the state of California. We are proud to be serving CalBar Connect and we will educate, provide secure email solutions, and assist in thwarting cyber-security threats to their members.”
