Wally Weitz, founder of Weitz Investment Management, disclosed this week that six positions were added to his portfolios during the fourth quarter.

Weitz is widely followed due to his research-intensive approach to value investing. When stocks meet his criteria for business fundamentals, he then waits for at least a 30% discount to his assessment of base-case value to buy. At fourth quarter-end, his firm-wide portfolios listed 79 stocks, with a value of $2.15 billion. The firm, which manages $4 billion, is most bullish on the financial services sector, which encompass 29% of holdings, followed by the technology space, which occupies 21.13%. It has anchored its largest positions in Berkshire Hathaway B-shares (BRK.B, Financial), Berkshire Hathaway A-shares (BRK.A, Financial) and Liberty Broadband Corp. (LBRDK, Financial).

The six stocks added to portfolios during the fourth quarter were: Black Knight Inc. (BKI, Financial), Analog Devices Inc. (ADI, Financial), Stanley Black & Decker Inc. (SWK, Financial), Gardner Denver Holdings Inc. (GDI, Financial), Myers Industries Inc. (MYE, Financial) and DowDuPont Inc. (DWDP, Financial).

The fund purchased 702,100 shares of Black Knight Inc., giving it 1.47% portfolio weight. The stock’s fourth-quarter share price averaged $47.
