Established in 1902, Daiwa Securities Group has organically grown from an Osaka-based broker/dealer to the second largest securities firm in Japan, servicing about 3 million retail customers. The group almost entirely focuses on servicing domestic brokerage customers through a network of 145 branches, with a focus on face-to-face consultation. Its earning base is largely split into lower-risk segments in retail (49%) and asset management (12%) and higher-risk segments in fixed income (15%), equity (14%), and investment banking (10%).
