First Trust MLP and Energy Income Fund is an asset management company. It provides services to energy-related master limited partnerships and other high-payout securities such as pipeline companies, power utilities, Yield-Co's, and energy infrastructure real estate investment trusts. The company invests mainly in energy-related infrastructure assets such as pipelines, power transmission and distribution, petroleum storage and terminals that receive fee-based or regulated income from their corporate and individual customers. Its investment objective is to seek a high level of total return with an emphasis on current distributions paid to common shareholders.
