GuruFocus Profitability Rank ranks how profitable a company is and how likely the company’s business will stay that way. It is based on these factors:

1. Operating Margin
2. Trend of the Operating Margin (5-year average). The company with an uptrend profit margin has a higher rank.
••3. Consistency of the profitability
4. Piotroski F-Score
5. Predictability Rank•

The maximum rank is 10. A rank of 7 or higher means a higher profitability and may stay that way. A rank of 3 or lower indicates that the company has had trouble to make a profit.

Profitability Rank is not directly related to the Financial Strength Rank. But if a company is consistently profitable, its financial strength will be stronger.

Guru Investment Theses on Fleetcor Technologies Inc

Baron Asset Fund Comments on FleetCor Technologies - Jan 30, 2017

Shares of FleetCor Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:FLT), a global payment processing firm serving the fuel card market, fell following disappointing quarterly results and a modest reduction in its full-year revenue guidance. Investors had expected an acceleration of organic growth during the second half of 2016, but instead it modestly decelerated. Investor sentiment was also tarnished by a large contract loss and intensifying foreign exchange market headwinds into year end. We expect these headwinds to abate and strong earnings growth to persist.

Baron Funds Comments on FleetCor Technologies - Oct 21, 2016

FleetCor Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:FLT) issues commercial charge cards that allow the employees of primarily small- and mid-sized businesses to buy fuel and maintenance at participating gasoline retailers. Fleetcor also manages commercial fleet card programs for major oil companies (such as BP, Arco, Chevron, and Citgo), which themselves maintain a great many end-customer relationships. Its shares performed well after the company reported good quarterly results and raised its full-year earnings guidance. FleetCor also benefited from its recent acquisition of STP, the leading electronic toll company in Brazil. We believe that improved results at its Comdata division, the likelihood of further acquisitions, rising fuel prices, and stabilizing foreign exchange rates could lead to an ongoing acceleration in FleetCor’s earnings.

Baron Funds Comments on FleetCor Technologies Inc. - Nov 02, 2015

FleetCor Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:FLT) provides payment processing services to vehicle fleet operators and large oil companies worldwide. Although FleetCor reported good quarterly results and raised its full-year earnings guidance, macroeconomic concerns, including weak fuel prices and a stronger U.S. dollar, outweighed these results and caused the stock price to drop. Without these macroeconomic headwinds, company management estimated that earnings growth would have been 39% instead of the 16% reported. As these headwinds eventually subside, we believe its earnings will improve meaningfully.
