Preferred Apartment Communities Inc is a real estate investment trust that acquires, manages, and invests in properties and real estate related loans primarily in large metropolitan areas throughout the southern United States. The company's real estate portfolio is mainly comprised of multifamily communities and shopping centers anchored by grocery store chains. The company's largest real estate markets are the cities of Atlanta, Nashville, and Houston. Preferred Apartment also maintains a portfolio of real estate and bridge loans that mostly finance multifamily communities in major southern cities like Tampa, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. The majority of the company's income is derived from rental revenue, while interest income on loans also contributes a very significant amount.
