Calamos Asset Management  (FRA:FND) Closed End Fund Assets (USD Mil) Explanation

A closed-end fund is a portfolio of pooled assets that raises a fixed amount of capital through an initial public offering (IPO) and then lists shares for trade on a stock exchange. Asset management companies hold it as part of the investment pool and its volume can reflect the portfolio structure of the company.

Closed-end funds trade like equity, as the price fluctuates throughout the trading day according to supply and demand as well as the changing values of its portfolio’s holdings. However, the closed-end fund is unique in that, after its IPO, the fund's parent company issues no additional shares and the fund itself won't redeem or buyback shares. Instead, like individual stocks, the fund can only be bought or sold on the secondary market by investors.
