Warren Buffett probably boosted Andrew Ross Sorkin's bottom line a good bit tonight by plugging Sorkin's new book during a town hall event with Columbia Business School students that aired on CNBC.

Among the questions that Buffett was asked concerned whether he thought the government should have allowed Lehman Brothers to fail last fall. Buffett replied that the government probably should have saved Lehman, but he also praised policy makers for handling the crisis well overall.

Buffett then said that the new book of New York Times reporter Sorkin, called "Too Big to Fail," was an excellent account of the financial crisis last fall.

Sorkin was among three reporters chosen to query Buffett in Omaha this past spring during the Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting. Becky Quick, who hosted the CNBC event tonight, and Fortune writer Carol Loomis were the other two.

One final note -- I know CNBC needs to make a buck, but did they really have to air quite so many commercials tonight during the show (which was supposed to be an hour but ballooned to 90 minutes because of the frequent commercial interruptions)?
