Berkshire Hathaway Profit up 33%, Bought $11 Billion of Stocks in 6 Months

Warren Buffett’s investment company Berkshire Hathaway has reported a 33% of earning growth for the second quarter of 2007. Berkshire Hathaway also reported that it bought $11.456 billion of stocks during the 6 months ended June 30.


Berkshire Hathaway’s net income climbed to $3.12 billion, or $2,018 a share, from $2.35 billion, or $1,522, a year earlier. Investment gains more than doubled to $608 million. Profit before the investment gains rose 22 percent to $2.51 billion, or $1,625 a share. Revenue climbed 13 percent to $27.3 billion.


It seems that Warren Buffett is finding a lot of ideas to buys these days. For the 6 months ended June 30, Berkshire Hathaway spend $ 11.456 billion buying stocks, which is a sharp increase from the $4.648 billion in the same period last year. Warren Buffett sold about $2 billion of stocks.


Even after Warren Buffett bought more than $11 billion of stocks, he still cannot spend the cash that is flowing in from Berkshire Hathaway’s operations. As of June 30, he has more than about $47 billion in cash, an increase of $5 billion from a year ago.
