I’m long Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK). I think at current commodity prices it is a good investment. If natural gas ever rebounds to $6 I think it is a giant home run.
There are some other interesting buyers of Chesapeake.
One is former Berkshire equity manager Lou Simpson:
As you know, for 30 years Simpson invested the portfolio for GEICO under the watchful eye of Warren Buffett. In fact Simpson is the only man that until recently Buffett entrusted to invest Berkshire’s cash (other than himself).
Chesapeake CEO Aubrey McClendon was on CNBC yesterday discussing the attractiveness of his company as an investment:
- CEO Buys, CFO Buys: Stocks that are bought by their CEO/CFOs.
- Insider Cluster Buys: Stocks that multiple company officers and directors have bought.
- Double Buys:: Companies that both Gurus and Insiders are buying
- Triple Buys: Companies that both Gurus and Insiders are buying, and Company is buying back.
