Mr. Howard S. Marks is a co-founder, principal and chairman of Oaktree Capital Group LLC. He co-founded the firm in 1995. Mr. Marks serves as a Principal and the Chairman of Oaktree Capital Management LP. He is a co-founder of OCM Opportunities fund VIII LP. He is responsible for providing leadership to Oaktree's people, ensuring its adherence to its core investment philosophy, communicating closely with clients concerning products and strategies, and managing it. He is a part of the corporate team at Oaktree. Mr. Marks was a pioneer in the management of high yield bonds and convertible securities. In the 35-plus years since his entry into the investment management industry in 1969, he has developed the fundamental investment philosophy, which governs all of Oaktree’s activities and assembled one of the largest pools of institutional assets under management in these fields.
