I've been in the industry now for about 30 years. I looked -- I had exited a company in 2007, noncompete, ended in 2009. And so I started doing field research into the actual space around 2010. What I effectively found was that the market for HCM software was exceptionally large, about a $20 billion market space in the U.S. and Canada and about $20 billion elsewhere.
Second thing I found was that the average life of customer was generally more than 10 years across any of the competitors. Third thing is when I did field research, people were looking for more than just payroll. They want to payroll and HR and time, recruiting, performance, compensation, all the talent modules.
So there's an obvious platform capability, and the pain point that seemed to be quite common across all of the incumbents was really separation of data, particularly when you look at pay and time, would find that the payroll data was in the time system for the duration of the pay period plus a few days, which led too
