Paul Tudor Jones Doesn't Think Women with Children Have the Ability Focus Intensely Enough to Trade

The University of Virginia held symposium in last month that featured Paul Tudor of Tudor Investment Corporation, Julian Robertson of Tiger Management and John Griffin of Blue Ridge Capital.

The question was posed as to why the panel included only rich, white, middle aged men.

Paul Tudor Jones took on the question and unfortunately suggested that trading requires intense focus, and many women lose the ability for that once they have children. “No comment” would likely have been a better choice.

Yeah.... but trading too much is a bad thing no?

I'll grant him one thing, he offends as many people as Charlie Munger.

But that's also where the resemblance stops.

Look I understand that this may offend people, but you have to separate facts & rationality from morality.

Paul Tudor Jones seems to me to be making a honest, rational argument why there might not be that many women in the investment panel (based on time spent, raising children, etc.) while saying this does not translate to his overall view of women ("if women ran the world, there'd be no war").

I can understand after centuries of repression of women's rights and subordinance that this would be a touchy topic. But I think if one is confusing feelings of justness with what makes logical sense, he/she is making a mistake. The kind of mistake you would not want to make too much as an investor.
