For Tom Russo 2008 was a great opportunity to rotate out of many of his domestic holdings and into international companies whose stock prices had collapsed. Russo liked this opportunity because many of his domestic holdings were running out of opportunities to reinvest cash flow and were often not making optimal capital allocation decisions.

International companies with exposure to emerging markets meanwhile still have much brighter growth prospects ahead of them.
