Chanos has been successfully short China for several years. He is still bearish on the country.

Some of his specific observations on a variety of subjects include:

- He doesn't like to short purely on valuation, but he certainly thinks investors need to consider valuation when buying.

- He thinks investors in several companies like Facebook (FB) need to be aware their "tradeable floats" are going to get much larger after lockup periods.

- Problems in China are credit problems, not economic growth problems.
