Concho Resources, Inc. (CXO, Financial) is an independent exploration & production ("E&P") company focused on the Permian Basin in West Texas. The Permian Basin has been the hottest E&P play among energy investors in the past six months. Concho's increased disclosure regarding its well results in the Delaware and Midland sub-basins, and its indication that it may accelerate its growth in 2014 beyond its historical and expected growth rate, also have contributed to the positive share price performance in the third quarter.
