Aircraft rental company Aircastle Limited cut their dividend by 64% to $0.25 per share for the quarter. The company announced a fourth quarter income of $35.3 million or $0.46 a share compared to $19.8 million or $0.39 a share a year ago. Aircraft Ltd doubled their revenue to $121 million for the same quarter.


Ron Baron increased his Aircastle Ltd holding 40% to 3,016,400 shares as of 12/31/07. Ron Baron bought his shares around $27.80 a share.

CIT Group, Inc. (CIT) ordered 20 new planes from Airbus for $1.9 billion. The quarterly net loss totaled $130.7 million or $0.69 compared to a previous net income of $259.3 million or $1.28. The company planned to discontinue originating private student loans. CIT is among one of the top movers, trading at $6.45 per share for 52-week low and $61.47 per share for 52-week high.


Charles Brandes added to his holdings between $23.14 and $39.63. Third Avenue Management, Martin Whitman, Bill Miller, David Dreman, and Dodge & Cox have shares in CIT Group Inc.


Since early-August, Chairman and CEO, Director, Jeffrey M. Peek, bought 58,300 shares at an average range of $25.30 to $34.86. Another insider buy was made by Director Gary C. Butler, who bought 5,000 shares at $34.77.

February’s defaults from privately insured mortgages hiked up 38%. Real estate stats show a 60% rise in foreclosures comparing the last two Februaries. As the number of delinquent loans continues to increase, mortgage insurance company MGIC Investment Corp. is pressured to pay more claims. The company announced that it will anticipate more claim payments throughout 2008. In order to raise $420 million, MGIC plans to offer 37.3 million shares for common stock at $11.25 per share.


Currently, the posted loss due to claims is $372.5 million, as of the third quarter in 2007. The mortgage insurer anticipates $2 billion in write-downs for 2008. The company declared its quarterly dividend of $0.025 a share. MTG shares have been at its 15-year low.


Martin Whitman added to his MTG holdings to 2,000,000 shares between $14.09 and $26.91. As Third Avenue Management, NWQ Managers, and Charles Brandes kept their shares of MTG, Bill Nygren and Jean-Marie Eveillard sold out all their shares of MTG.

The credit card service provider, Alliance Data Systems Corporation (ADS) just finished a credit financing of $2.7 billion. The company made plans to sell its merchant and utility businesses, reported in the SEC filing mid-March. Alliance Data Systems anticipates $4.30 per share for its 2008 earnings.


While Martin Whitman ramped up his ADS shares by over 63% to 2,429,960 shares, David Tepper sold out his ADS holdings. Also, Third Avenue Management and Ruane Cunniff currently own holdings in ADS.


Alliance Data Systems Corp. has a market cap of $3.91 billion; its shares were traded at around $48.89 with a P/E ratio of 24.36 and P/S ratio of 1.69.
