Today we are going to take a look at recent insider trades and guru transactions.

Phillip Frost Md Et Al, CEO and chairman of Opko Health (OPK, Financial), is continuing to buy shares on a regular basis. His most recent purchase was cumulative 37,900 shares on 3/24/14 and 3/25 at an average price of $9.28. The total transaction amount was valued at $351,547. So far he has made 13 purchases this month. Opko Health is a biopharmaceutical and diagnostics company that is engaged in the discovery, development and commercialization of novel and proprietary technologies.

A recent large insider sell has been from Peter S. Swinburn, President and CEO of Molson Coors Brewing Company (TAP, Financial). On March 24, 2014, he sold 71,424 shares at an average price of $58.89 per share. The total transaction amount was valued at $4,206,159. Molson Coors manufactures and sells beer and other beverage products.

The guru, Mario Gabelli, purchased 724,729 shares of Katy Industries (KATY, Financial). According to the 13D filed with the SEC on March 21, 2014, Gabelli is deemed to have beneficial ownership of the securities owned by Gabelli Funds, GAMCO, Teton Advisors and MJG Associates. The total amount of shares owned is 1,711,045, representing 21.52% of the shares outstanding. Katy engages in the manufacture, import and distribution of commercial cleaning and storage products for commercial janitorial/sanitary maintenance, industrial, foodservice, mass merchant retail and home improvement markets in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

The guru, Wilbur Ross, reduced his holdings of Assured Guaranty (AGO, Financial) by 26.95% on March 19, 2014. His transaction of AGO was a reduction in holding by about 25% in the second quarter of 2013. After the reductions, he currently owns 10,842,488 shares. Assured Guaranty provides public finance, infrastructure, and structured finance markets in the U.S. and internationally.
